SOHO Reveals Factors Linked With Schizophrenia Outcomes

Results of the Schizophrenia Outpatients Health Outcomes (SOHO) study were reported by Dr. Diego Novick and colleagues at this year’s APA conference in Toronto. 67% of the 6,350 analyzed patients in the 3-year study remitted. Remission rates (remission was defined as scoring <4 on the CGI positive, negative, cognitive, overall severity measure) were significantly higher in females, those with paid employment, those with low clinical severity at baseline, those with high social functioning, and those treated with olanzapine as opposed to typical psychotics. Remission was lower in males and those with high clinical severity.
