Alcohol-Related Disorders

Alcohol-related disorders fall into two main categories: alcohol use disorders and alcohol-induced disorders. Use disorders further break down into alcohol dependence, typified by tolerance and withdrawal, and alcohol abuse, typified by alcohol-related inability to meet major obligations and recurrent substance use in situations wherein it is physically hazardous (eg, driving). Alcohol-induced disorders run a wide gamut, from alcohol-induced dementia to alcohol-induced sleep disorders.
