Insight into the Epidemiology of Alcohol Abuse

Archives of General Psychiatry has published current results from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions. The study (N=43,093) identified men, whites, Native Americans, younger and unmarried adults, and those with lower incomes as groups significantly at risk for alcohol dependence (see table below). It also found that treatment of those with alcohol dependence has fallen slightly since ten years ago to only 24.1%.
