CBT On Your PC: Effective Treatment?
Can test anxiety be treated on the Internet? A study in Behavior and Therapy randomly placed 90 university students in a cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) program or a control group—both administered online. Before and after treatment, participants were evaluated with clinical scales including the Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI), and the Anxiety Hierarchy Questionnaire (AHQ). The TAI indicated that 53% of the CBT group demonstrated clinically significant improvement; just 29% of the control group, however, made similar headway. According to the AHQ, 67% of the CBT group and 36% of the control group made a positive improvement, suggesting that CBT may be effective when administered online. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi
